Private 1-1 Piano Lessons

In private lessons you will get one on one undivided attention and feedback with Ms. Julia. I want my students to come into their first class and fall in love with the idea of playing the piano. It’s important that they feel successful on day one and that the feel of music comes easily to them. I first focus on creating some quick wins. I want them to walk out of their first lesson thinking, I can do this. From there, we will transition into skills, such as note reading and music theory. Private lessons are 30 mins a week and are offered in person in Alpine, Utah or over zoom anywhere in the world.

Group Piano Classes

In our group classes, on day one, I like to focus on getting everyone in the group to play together. Group classes have the social dynamic that allows students to learn and develop the skills that they’re going to need in life for working within a group in general. Not only are my students learning about music theory and piano, but they are learning character traits such as leadership and teamwork. Group classes are one hour, once a week are only offered in person in Alpine, Utah at this time.

Recitals

Recitals are kept short and sweet, once a year in the spring. Students get to pick their own music and they work hard to learn it. Family and friends are welcome to join and cheer on their student as they show off all their hard work! I hold one recital in Katy, Tx and one in Alpine, Utah.

Summer Camps

Music Around the World-

The chief goal of this camp is to increase the students’ awareness of and appreciation for cultures that are different from their own – through experiencing the music and studying the instruments of other countries. Each day of camp, students will be traveling to a different country of the world:

Day 1: Australia – Students will learn about the Aboriginal people and a few of their musical instruments. They will also make their own didgeridoo, which is one of the oldest instruments in the world!

Day 2: China – Students will learn about ancient Chinese culture and make their own gong.

Day 3: Ghana – Students will learn about the drum ensembles that are popular throughout West Africa and make their own drum.

Day 4: Peru – Students will learn about the Andean people and make their own panpipes.

This camp is appropriate for students of any playing level (ages 5 through 12 will enjoy this camp the most) as well as for new students with little or no music background.

Music Olympics-

Games, water, competition and fun! My goal for this camp is for students to get to know each other, learn teamwork and cooperation, and just have a blast while learning and reinforcing basic musical concepts. On the last day of camp we will have an Olympic Awards Ceremony where the winning team will be awarded the gold trophy and campers will be awarded medals for individual achievements.

This camp is appropriate for students of any playing level (ages 5 through 12 will enjoy this camp the most) as well as for new students with little or no music background.
